Strawberry Basil Goat Cheese Spread with Walnuts

This Strawberry Basil Goat Cheese Spread with Walnuts was created in partnership with Fisher Nuts. It’s perfect for easy summer entertaining!

Hope everyone had a great Fourth of July holiday weekend!! My holiday started last Thursday when my friend Kristen flew into town for a visit. We planned a fun couple of days earlier this year with tickets to Justin Bieber (we are closet Beliebers) and a day of eating and drinking around the world at Epcot with our friend Julie. Music, food, drinks and friends – doesn’t get much better than that!

Before we started getting ready for our night out with JB, I wanted to make something to snack on while we sipped some wine and got ready. I literally whipped up this Strawberry Basil Goat Cheese Spread with Walnuts in minutes, with ingredients I almost always have on hand.

It’s fun cooking for friends and I was excited to experiment with an appetizer idea that had been in my head for a while. My daughter and husband approved as well!

Strawberry Basil Goat Cheese Spread

All you need for this delicious seasonal appetizer is:

  • 8 oz goat cheese
  • 3 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup Fisher Walnut Halves & Pieces, chopped and toasted
  • 4 basil leaves, chopped
  • 1/2 cup chopped strawberries, divided
  • honey
  • grilled or toasted thinly sliced baguette, or crackers for serving

How to make goat cheese spreadable?

The key to making goat cheese spreadable is to add creamy Greek yogurt to it. You can also add regular plain yogurt or even a little milk. Just a splash or two or a couple of spoonfuls is all you need.

For your next summer get together! Strawberry Basil Goat Cheese Spread with Walnuts - served on crunchy toasts or crackers and drizzled with honey. So good! Recipe via aggieskitchen.com #FisherUnshelled

I’m officially adding this goat cheese spread recipe to my mental list of go-to appetizers for when I want to pull something tasty together quickly and with just a few simple ingredients.

Typically I go for hummus and veggies, or this savory Greek Yogurt dip I love, but this Strawberry Basil Goat Cheese Spread is one I see myself making again and again. Peaches and almonds would be a great seasonal way to change it up (similar to this Honey Almond Ricotta Spread with Peaches I’ve made before).

Be sure to serve this immediately at room temperature for easy spreading.
