September Reading: Happiness For Beginners, One Plus One, Everything I Never Told You, The Good Girl and Left Neglected
I have a few new books to share with you today. I can’t remember if I mentioned it here or not, but earlier this year I set a goal on Goodreads to read 30 books in 2015. I just updated my list and am at 20! I think I might be able to do it. I have to say, since I started listening to audiobooks via Audible and I’m reading a lot more books than I normally do. Love listening to books on walks, in the car, while waiting for appointments, folding laundry etc. I find it so relaxing honestly, especially when my eyes and brain are too tired to actually read a physical book.
But of course, I love my “real” books too.
Here’s what I’ve been reading:
Happiness For Beginners by Katherine Center
I breezed through this one! It was an easy read, and engaging from the beginning. The story follows a 32 year old woman who is trying to get her life together after a divorce by going on a 3 week wilderness retreat. I enjoyed seeing her transformation as she allowed herself to develop relationships (with people that she normally wouldn’t) and learn things about herself and her life along the way.
You can find a copy of Happiness For Beginners on Amazon in paperback or hardback, for your Kindle or on Audible. (or your library of course!)
One Plus One by Jojo Moyes
Good read! I got through this one quickly too – a familiar, developing romance storyline between two characters that are polar opposites of each other. The characters are likable and somewhat dysfunctional at times.
You can find a copy of One Plus One on Amazon in paperback or hardback, for your Kindle or on Audible.
Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng
I listened to this one on audiobook and it was very captivating. This story has the word tragic written all over it, and it tugged at my heart the entire time. I felt for each character immensely, and loved how the author spent enough time developing each of the characters for you to really feel for them. Though this book did make me feel sad at times, I highly recommend reading it!
You can find Everything I Never Told You on Amazon in paperback or hardback, for your Kindle or on Audible.
Currently reading:
The Good Girl by Mary Kubica
I just started listening to this one on audiobook.
You can find The Good Girl on Amazon in paperback or hardback, for your Kindle or on Audible.
Left Neglected by Lisa Genova
I’m already halfway through this one and am having a hard time putting it down. A career-driven mother of three gets in a car accident that leaves her with brain damage. This brain damage keeps her from seeing or acknowledging anything on her left side – literally.
This author wrote Still Alice, which is one of my favorites and another highly recommended read!
You can find Left Neglected on Amazon in paperback or hardback, for your Kindle or on Audible.

I just posted a link to your black beans and rice salad recipe on a post about black beans on my blog:

I am looking for some new reading material so will look at your post for suggestions
Love this list! I listen to books on my way to and from work every day (about 45 minutes each way!) and so I go through one-to-two books a week and I’m always looking for good recommendations, I’ve read all but 2 of the books on your list so I’m adding them to my list stat!
