We arrived early on Friday and after dumping our luggage at the hotel we immediately walked a few blocks over to see the White House…I’ll tell you, I had to catch my breath as I walked up on it, it’s one thing to see it on TV or in pictures, but to be standing so close in front of it left me speechless for a moment…
Our first lunch was a special one…my hubby was born in Maryland and has a thing for steamed blue crabs. We heard about the Dancing Crab online, and couldn’t wait to check it out. Dancing Crab is in Tenley Town right near American University. We settled into our booth (we were the first customers of the day…) and ordered 1/2 dozen jumbo crabs and a pitcher of beer.
The crabs were great (though we wished they were just a little bigger) and it was the perfect way to start our weekend tour around D.C…

(Pizza Napoletana…capers, anchovies, tomatoes, basil and fresh mozzarella)

(serrano chiles, limes, salt, cilantro muddled and combined with fresh avocados, more lime, more salt and crumbled queso fresco..heavenly.) 
(My first taste of ceviche…Red snapper ceviche with avocado in salsa mexicana of tomato, sweet onion, cilantro and lime juice…I’m in love.)
(Sunday Brunch at this historic establishment…Eggs Chesapeake – poached eggs and jumbo lump crab cake on English muffin with Chesapeake sauce)
(my afternoon obsession – conveniently right next door to my hotel)
(we waited for what seemed like forever for a table…but we are happy to say it was worth the wait…the best Chinese food we’ve had in a long time)

Welcome home! Wow, what a trip. Now I'm really jealous. We want to go back and visit D.C. so bad. The girls would love it. Those crabs bring back so many memories of steamed crabs we had growing in Maryland. I love the picture of Larry with the crab…cute! It looks like you went to some amazing restaurants and of course the DC sites. Can't wait to hear more about it.

Looks like a FABULOUS trip! We are headed down for a weekend soon, so I'm going to keep the list of places you ate handy in case we can squeeze them in… of course, the kiddo's are going w/us so I'll check the menus on-line first!
